"An der Trießnitz" Public Comprehensive School, Jena

Diversity creates opportunities for individualized support and challenge—living and learning together under one roof. Here, students spend more time learning together in inclusive classrooms. In 2013, our school received the Jakob Muth Prize for this work from the German National Commission for UNESCO and the Bertelsmann Foundation.

We learn in mixed-age groups in small units—the “learning houses.” By working within a multi-teacher system, we can provide the necessary support and challenges for each individual.

We are an open, full-day school with after-school care and recreational activities from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sports and a healthy lifestyle are central to our program, as is a focus on music and the arts to help students discover and cultivate their interests and hobbies.
