New statutes for school transport as of 01.08.2022

On 15.06.2022, the Jena City Council adopted the new statutes on school transport at a public meeting. In particular, the statute strengthens the use of local public transport and provides transparency for parents with regard to administrative decisions.

The main contents are

• School transport is generally provided via the existing local public transport routes
• Specification of deadlines for applications and submission of evidence
• Involvement of parents for pupils from grade 11
• Transportation of pupils in exempted school transport or with transport services
• Reimbursement of costs for work placement trips / swimming lessons / school trips
