"Südschule" Public Elementary School, Jena
At the city’s smallest public elementary school in terms of enrollment, homeroom teachers generally guide the children through their four years of elementary school. Written language acquisition takes place through a systematic reading and writing program. Grades are assigned starting in third grade. Children with disabilities, those from immigrant backgrounds, and refugees are, of course, welcome here.
As an open all-day school, we offer a wide variety of health-promoting, musical-artistic, and science-and-technology activities during the time parents choose for their child to stay in the after-school care program, from which the children can choose based on their interests. We are certified as a “House of Little Researchers.”
